DRINK MORE WATER, LOSE WEIGHT
We all have our own ways of watching our weight, of forbearance and indulgence. Now some new research backs up the simplest of ideas. Drink two glasses of water before each meal and you can expect to lose an extra 2kg in 12 weeks. bbc.co.uk carried the story on 24th August. The US study was based on 2 groups of 24 adults aged 55 to 75, both following a low calorie diet. One group drank water beforehand. The other did not. The Economist on 28th August also reported on what had happened to the two groups a year later. The water drinkers kept going and lost more weight, while the others put weight on again. As The Economist said: “It’s cheap. It’s simple. And unlike so much dieting advice, it seems to be enjoyable too.” Evidently, water works.
