  • Coach departs for the 90 minute drive to Szentkiralyi,  a small village established by Hungary’s inaugural King, Saint Stephen I. Protected by a chapel, the Szentkiralyi source flows at a depth of 206 metres, running through layers of ice age rock to produce a water with an optimal mineral content of 520 mg per litre.

Szentkiralyi Mineral Water Ltd was established in 2003, taking over distribution from Vitapress Ltd, which had represented the brand since 1994. The company has evolved from small beginnings to winning over 50 industry awards and becoming Hungary’s market leader, with an annual production capacity of 450 million litres.

Tour includes refreshments and light lunch.

Now in its 11th year, the Global Bottled Water Congress is designed for industry leaders, suppliers, customers and analysts to gain a complete overview of the latest trends and thinking across all continents from top companies in each region, with extensive time for informal networking and discussion.

The bottled water market is showing renewed vigour. Our theme of “Hydration activation” provides a focus for analysing the driving forces behind this positive trend and discussing how to maintain momentum for the future.

The event begins with a dedicated series of market insight briefings and features a full day main conference session. Topics include global and regional market trends and opportunities, product and market development challenges, innovation and investment. Delegates will hear from leading international and regional manufacturers on broader market and strategic developments, as well as smaller industry players and entrepreneurs showcasing a range of exciting new products and concepts.

The three day congress includes:

  • Conference sessions involving many top producers and suppliers
  • Extensive industry networking time with leading global figures
  • Dedicated half day of market briefings
  • Gala industry dinner
  • Szentkiralyi plant tour.

Hungary is home to around 500 high quality natural mineral water sources. With 2013 bottled water sales of almost 1,200 million litres at a retail value of US€385 million, the country has the highest consumption in East Europe at 119 litres per person.

Bottled water accounts for over 60% of total soft drinks volume, offering high quality mineral water at very competitive prices. Flavoured and functional waters have added dynamic growth, attracting a broader base of consumers and creating new consumption opportunities.

Located on the banks of the River Danube, Budapest is Hungary’s capital city and home to almost one fifth of the country’s population. With its extensive World Heritage Site, the city boasts many of Hungary’s most important historical monuments and houses the world’s largest thermal cave system including 80 geothermal springs.

The Congress will be held at the InterContinental Hotel, which overlooks many of the city’s principal attractions including the Danube, Chain Bridge and Royal Castle. Located a few minutes’ walk from the city’s famous shopping district, the hotel has over 400 guest rooms and suites, plus a fully equipped health and fitness centre with pool and spa.

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is located 24 kilometres from the hotel, which is a short distance from the city’s railway station.

An allocation of hotel rooms is available at negotiated rates for delegates attending the Congress.
