Duane Stanford, Executive Editor of Beverage Digest

Duane Stanford is Executive Editor of Beverage Digest, a newsletter covering the non-alcoholic drinks business. Previously, he spent 23 years at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Bloomberg News. His experience in the beverage industry spans more than a decade.

While at Bloomberg’s Atlanta bureau, Duane was a regular contributor to Businessweek magazine and to Bloomberg television and radio. He also appeared on programs including NPR’s Marketplace. Most of Duane’s time at the AJC was spent covering local, state and federal government, as well as politics. He joined the Business Desk in 2006 to cover beverages.

Duane graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, where he met his wife of more than two decades. Laura Stanford is Beverage Digest’s marketing & subscriptions manager. They have a daughter in high school and a son in college. Duane is a serial PTA president and volunteer, holds a now rarely-used pilot’s license, and enjoys competitive tennis.

Monica Kvamme, Senior Consultant at Zenith Global Ltd

Monica Kvamme joined Zenith in 2016 as a senior consultant for the New York office. She is responsible for commercial projects in North and South America, as well as data analysis for Beverage Digest.

Prior to joining Zenith, Monica spent almost a decade working in market and consumer research across North America, South America and Europe for companies including Euromonitor, Mintel and Gartner. She has also been involved in manufacturing operations and business intelligence for mergers and acquisitions.

Lain Hancock, Chief Executive Officer of Bai Brands, Dr Pepper Snapple Group

Lain Hancock serves as Chief Executive Officer for Bai Brands. In this role, he oversees all business operations for Bai, which became part of Dr Pepper Snapple Group in 2017. Prior to assuming his current responsibilities in June 2017, he was DPS’s Executive Vice President – Human Resources. 

Lain joined the company in 2007 as part of the supply chain organization, where he focused on establishing processes to improve safety, product quality, service and productivity. During his time in supply chain, Lain served in several senior leadership positions that included supply chain strategy, manufacturing operations and procurement before joining the HR organization as senior vice president in 2012.

Prior to joining DPS, Lain served as an aviation branch officer for the U.S. Army and more recently as a consultant with McKinsey & Company. Lain holds a B.S. degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Jim Dinkins, Incoming President for Coca-Cola North America

James L. “Jim” Dinkins will become President of Coca-Cola North America (CCNA) on Jan. 1, 2018. Currently, he serves as President of the Minute Maid Business Unit and Chief Retail Sales Officer for CCNA.

Dinkins joined The Coca-Cola Company in 1988. He gained diverse experience working in a variety of areas, including senior sales, marketing, operations, strategic planning, sports marketing, franchise leadership and general management.

As President of the Minute Maid Business Unit, Dinkins has led a team that produces, sells, markets and distributes leading brands in juices, natural health beverages, chilled tea and value-added dairy. This integrated team provides brands, services and solutions to consumers and customers through a comprehensive set of go-to-market options.

As Chief Retail Sales Officer, Dinkins has led a team that manages strategic relationships with global and national customers across the grocery, mass, club, drug, value, convenience and e-commerce channels in the United States. National Retail Sales has holistic customer management across all categories, brands and routes to market.

Dinkins’ previous roles include Senior Vice President, Sales in National Retail Sales for select grocery, club and convenience retail customers and President, 7-Eleven Global Customer Team. In his 7-Eleven position, Dinkins led a team of associates across 16 countries that worked with 7-Eleven senior managers, licensees and franchisees to develop strategic business plans and initiatives to drive growth.

From 1999 to 2002, Dinkins held senior management positions in the business services sector as Executive Vice President of Service Resources Inc., a business process outsourcing company, and with The Profit Recovery Group International, Inc., a recovery audit specialist, where he was President of the Communications Division. Prior to joining Coca-Cola in 1988, Dinkins held various sales positions with Procter & Gamble.

Dinkins serves on the board for the Retail Industry Leaders Association. His past board involvement includes the University of Georgia National Alumni Association, the Urban Atlanta Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Peak Performance Sports & Development Foundation and the Coca-Cola Bottler’s Sales & Service Company LLC.

Dinkins holds an MBA from Emory University and a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Georgia. He is a native of Atlanta.

Ali Dibadj, Managing Director, SVP and Senior Research Analyst Alliance Bernstein & Co, LLC

Ali Dibadj is a Partner at AllianceBernstein. He has been recognized as the #1 analyst in Beverages, Household, and Personal Products 10 times by Institutional Investor (II), granting him an induction in the II Hall of Fame. Previously, at McKinsey & Company, Ali advised senior management of consumer-facing, as well as energy, financial services, industrial, and healthcare companies on topics such as corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, governance, and organizational structure. Ali is also part of AllianceBernstein’s engagement investment process focused on improving ESG, operational, and capital allocation performance of portfolio companies. He holds an S.B. in Electrical Engineering from Harvard College and a J.D. from Harvard Law School, both with Honors.

Caroline Levy, ‎-Senior Analyst - Beverages at Macquarie Capital (USA) Inc

Caroline has been a Consumer Stock Analyst for more than 20 years, beginning her career on the buy side in South Africa and continuing on the sell side following her move to New York. She has followed sectors including Restaurants, Beverages, Household/Personal Care and Lodging/Cruise Lines. Prior to joining Macquarie, Caroline spent eight years as a Managing Director and Senior Analyst in the research department at CLSA. She also headed the Consumer Research team at UBS, where she was COO in US Research and Chair of the Investment Review Committee.

Caroline brings a broad and deep perspective to the industries she covers resulting from an extensive network of strong business relationships, expertise in Asia from her eight years at a leading Asian research firm, and her long-term coverage of the sectors. She has made numerous media appearances including CNBC’s “Mad Money with Jim Cramer” and Bloomberg. Additionally, she has been recognized multiple times in the Institutional Investor All-Star Survey and The Wall Street Journal Survey for stock picking and earnings accuracy.

Caroline’s passions include her family, her dog, Ziggy, yoga, all forms of dance, novels, friends, fine cocktails and food (not necessarily in that order).

Emily Silver, Vice President and General Manager - Pepsi Lipton Partnership, PepsiCo Inc

Emily Silver joined Pepsi in September 2007 and is currently Vice President & General Manager, Pepsi Lipton North America, a position she accepted in August 2016.  Pepsi Lipton NA is a ready-to-drink Lipton team joint venture for PCNA and Unilever.  The Partnership business generates >$1B of gross revenue and 385MM 8oz cases.  Emily has responsibility for the P&L through the management of Sales, Marketing, Innovation, Insights, Finance and R&D/Ops teams.  The portfolio includes six lines of business sold through Retail and Foodservice customers.

Most recently, as Vice President, Portfolio Transformation for PBC, Emily was responsible for leading PepsiCo’s efforts to balance short- and long-term portfolio priorities, allocating resources, and enabling the acceleration of transformational product and packaging innovation to meet changing consumer needs, as well as business and human sustainability objectives. 

She has also held roles as Senior Director, Media & Content for PBC, where Emily led significant change across traditional and emerging media platforms.  In a prior role, as a member of the Mountain Dew brand team, Emily executed numerous Diet Mountain Dew Campaigns as well as designed and launched broad scale innovation for Mountain Dew Kickstart which was the top beverage innovation of 2013. She has also worked on the Pepsi brand managing the Pepsi Refresh Project, and was responsible for the launch of Pepsi Throwback.  As an active member of PepsiCo’s global citizenship and sustainability initiative, she played a leadership role in the creation of PepsiCorps.

Before joining PepsiCo, Emily spent 4 years working on political campaigns in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania.

Emily graduated with a BA in Political Science and Economics from Brandeis University and her MBA from Yale’s School of Management.   She lives in Armonk, NY with her husband Jeff and daughters Natalie & Isabelle.

Antonio Sciuto, Executive Vice President - Brands and CMO of Nestlé Waters North America

Antonio Sciuto is Executive Vice President, Brands and Chief Marketing Officer of Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA). He reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is a member of the Executive team. In his current role, Antonio is primarily responsible for marketing strategy and business development of the company’s brands that include Nestlé Pure Life, Poland Spring, Perrier and S Pellegrino as well as the company’s work in the areas of insights, innovation, eBusiness and consumer affairs.

In 2016 Antonio launched the Consumer Engagement Center (CEC) in New York City. The CEC empowers the company’s employees and partners to deepen their relationships with consumers across all digital channels, foster community and deliver more personalized experiences.

Prior to joining NWNA in 2015, Antonio was Vice President, Global Head of Ecommerce for Nestlé S.A., the world’s largest food and beveragecompany, headquartered in Vevey, Switzerland. In this role, Antonio was responsible for the development and deployment of the Ecommerce Group’s strategy. He devised an integrated end-to-end approach which enabled success across various online business models. Before his time at Nestlé, Antonio served as a consultant for McKinsey & Company in Milan, a global management consulting firm that serves leading business, governments, non-governmental organizations, and not-for-profits. While there, Antonio identified and assessed strategic opportunities as well as marketing approaches. In so doing, he redefined organizational structure, processes and governance allowing for the launch of new products and marketing campaigns designed to increase penetration in the retail segment.  Before his time at McKinsey & Company, Antonio served as Market Strategy & Planning – National Co-ordinator Manager for Proctor & Gamble. Antonio was charged with oversight of the Laundry Division, responsible for design, development and implementation of commercial strategy, strategic consultancy for top retailers, sales analysis, as well as the management of budget.

Antonio earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business & Administration, Finance & Marketing from Università Bocconi. Antonio is a Board Member of Keep America Beautiful (KAB), a network of 620 community-based KAB affiliates which provides expertise, programs and resources to help prevent littering, improve recycling and beautify America’s communities.

Adam Lowry, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ripple Foods

Adam Lowry is co-founder & co-CEO of Ripple Foods.  Ripple is disrupting the $100+ billion dairy market with plant-based milks that are high in protein, low in sugar, and delicious.

Prior to Ripple, Adam was co-founder and Chief Greenskeeper of Method Products, PBC, the leading innovator in sustainable home cleaning products.  Adam has also worked as a climate scientist at the Carnegie Institution for Science, where he developed software products for the understanding of climate change.
 
Adam has been honored as one of Fortune’s 40 Under 40, and received the 2013 Clinton Global Citizen Award from the Clinton Global Initiative. Adam is a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum, and a Catto Fellow at the Aspen Institute.  Adam serves on the boards of urban agriculture company AeroFarms, LLC, and the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, which creates and preserves the nation’s marine sanctuaries.

John Bello, Chairman of Reed’s Inc

Mr. Bello is the founder and former CEO of South Beach Beverage Company, the maker of nutritionally enhanced teas and juices marketed under the brand name SoBe.  The company was sold to PepsiCo in 2001 for $370 million.  In 2001, Ernst and Young named Bello national Entrepreneur of the Year in the consumer products category for his work with SoBe.

Prior to founding SoBe, Bello spent 14 years at National Football League Properties, the marketing arm of the NFL and served as its President from 1986 to 1993. Prior to the NFL, Bello served in marketing roles at General Foods and PepsiCo. 

Currently Bello is a managing director of JoNa Ventures, a family venture fund. 

He is Chairman of the Board of Reed’s All Natural Beverages, makers of Reed’s Ginger Beers and Virgil’s Craft Sodas.  He is also Chairman of Beso Del Sol Sangria, a line of all natural sangrias imported from Spain.

Prior to JoNa he was a managing partner with Sherbrooke Capital, a venture capital group dedicated to investing in leading, early stage health and wellness companies. He serves on the board of Boathouse Sports and a managing member of Luminesce Eye Therapies.

During four years of service with the United States Navy, he achieved the rank of lieutenant (senior grade) and received the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V for meritorious service on riverboats in South Vietnam.

His activities include: Tufts University Trustee and athletics advisory board member, Gordon Entrepreneurial Center at Tufts (board of directors); Tuck Center for Private Equity (board member), New York Council Boy Scouts of America (board director). 

He earned his BA from Tufts University, cum laude, and received his MBA from the Tuck School of Business as an Edward Tuck Scholar.
