40 acquisitions in July
There’s been no let up in the pace of acquisitions over the summer, with the bevblog.net database recording 40 in July.
They had a more international flavour than many other months, with 26 countries affected. 15 involved the United States, 6 France, 5 China and Switzerland, 4 Germany and 3 each India, Japan, Netherlands and United Kingdom. All 3 for Japan were purchases by Asahi, all 3 for India sales.
Soft drinks came out ahead with 10 transactions, followed by packaging on 7, then 5 apiece for alcohol, dairy and ingredients.
Two were in the billion dollar league – French dairy Lactalis gaining majority control over Italian based Parmalat and Nestle acquiring China’s Hsu Fu Chi confectionery group.
