40 acquisitions in June
June was a busier month for food and drink transactions recorded on the bevblog.net database, with three involving sums greater than $1,000 billion:
• €5,200 million sales from the French dairy co-operative merger of Sodiaal and 3A;
• $3,000 million for Brazil’s JBS purchase of the Seara poultry unit; and
• $1,600 million for China’s Mengniu dairy to buy 75% of Yashili.
Of the 40 total, 12 were in alcohol, 8 in soft drinks, 5 in dairy and 3 in ingredients.
20 were confined to single countries and 20 were international. The United States featured in 12, France in 8, Australia, Netherlands, Spain and United Kingdom in 3 and 21 other countries in 1 or 2.
