41 Acquisitions in September

September was another busy month for deals, with 41 recorded on the bevblog.net database. Two were colossal – SABMiller’s $10.2 billion alcohol takeover of Foster’s and International Paper’s $4.3 billion packaging purchase of Temple-Inland.

In terms of transaction numbers, ingredients led the way with 11, followed by packaging on 7, soft drinks on 6, alcohol on 5 and dairy on 4.

No fewer than 24 involved the United States, with 5 affecting the United Kingdom and 3 each concerning Ireland (all on the buy side), Mexico (all internal), plus China, Germany and the Netherlands.
