There were some huge numbers in August’s 42 food and drink transactions recorded on the bevblog.net database. 6 involved sums over $500 million including 2 over $5,000 million:

• $31,000 million valuation for Coca-Cola European Partners, a three way 13 country merger between Coca-Cola Enterprises, Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Iberian Partners

• $5,600 million for a 7.5% stake in Mondelez International by US based Bill Ackman.

Of the 42 total, 8 were in alcohol, 8 in soft drinks, 4 in packaging, 4 in snacks, 3 in equipment and 3 in ingredients.

No fewer than 25 involved the United States, including 18 entirely within the country. The United Kingdom participated in 9, Australia in 3 and no others in more than 2. 17 countries featured overall.
