This compares with 520 in 2012, so less in number, but many were much larger in value. The total for 2011 was 466.

The biggest changes were the drop in transactions for packaging (-36) and ingredients (-14), compared with substantial increases for dairy (+14) and spirits (+13).
Water cooler acquisitions were down from 22 to 12, while bottled water deals rose from 8 to 16.
