54 acquisitions in February
February was a relatively quiet month for food and drink transactions, with 54 recorded on the Zenith Global mergers and acquisitions database.
3 involved sums in excess of $500 million, but none amounted to more than $1,000 million:
• $826 million in nutrition for Netherlands-based DSM to buy Denmark’s Glycom
• $705 million in snacks for US-based PepsiCo to purchase China’s Be & Cheery business from Haoxianghi Health Food
• $500 million in US bakery for Mondelez International to take a majority stake in Give & Go from Thomas H Lee.
Of the 54 total, 6 were in soft drinks, 5 in plant-based, 4 in ingredients, 4 in meat and 3 in snacks. 3 were in other free-from categories.
31 were inside national borders and 23 international, involving 20 countries. The United States featured in 34, the United Kingdom in 7, France in 5, Canada in 4 and Spain in 3.
