Coffee capsules and the environment
The city of Hamburg in Germany has banned coffee pods from municipal buildings to send out a message on reducing waste.
It argues that 3 grams of packaging for 6 grams of coffee is too much and the packaging is sometimes a mix of materials, making them more difficult to recycle. Why not avoid the packaging in the first place ?
The counter argument is less waste of coffee and water as well as improved recycling for the capsules.
It appears this debate is only just beginning. Where do you stand on it ?
