Eat more dairy – save health budget
I’m a bit slow on the uptake this time. Back in December, the University of South Australia and Dairy Australia issued a press release containing some astonishing research findings.
It said: “At least two billion dollars could be slashed from the annual healthcare budget if Australians increased their dairy intake …
“… the potential healthcare savings associated with eating the recommended amount of dairy were … comparable to the entire public health budget.”
Apparently 65% of Australians currently consume less dairy products than recommended. Three daily servings are required for adequate calcium intake – one serving is equal to a cup of milk, two slices of cheese or a pot of yogurt.
Is this a perfect example of a no brainer ?
