Who says what on health
16 million deaths a year could be avoided by spending no more than $3 per person, according to the World Health Organisation’s new Global Status Report on Non-Communicable Diseases 2014, published on 19th January.
It urges every country to adopt national dietary guidelines including tobacco use and recommends a series of ‘best buy’ measures, such as:
- salt, sugar and caffeine reduction strategies including taxation
- replacing trans fats with polyunsaturated fats
- restricting or banning alcohol advertising
- public awareness programmes on diet and physical activity.
How long can we go on accepting inactivity and inaction ?
